Introduction: Thrown tablewares
The thrown tablewares are designed to wobble and dance, beckoning to be picked up, handled and used. Evidence of my desire for the work to be about the celebration of eating. The brushwork is both strong and subtle and enhances the three dimensions. Using tin glaze and oxides I create a finish that is sometimes watery and evocative of sea and sky, other times jagged like calligraphy.
I have a palette of over 40 different colours to choose from and am happy to work to commission.
The Reversible Dinner Plate
These plates can be used on either side, depending on whether you are serving a dry or saucy dish. One side of the dish has a blue brush stroke on it , bringing the plates together as a group. The other side has a different coloured brush stroke, for variety.
