Our Story

Pelham’s fine furniture & ceramics was born out of a belief of the old and new sitting happily side by side. After all most interiors are like this.

Ceramicist Liz Emtage and Furniture restorer Geoff Osler have been working alongside each other for twenty years with Geoff rejuvinating old furniture for large antique shops and collectors alike and Liz making and designing ceramics for private clients, interior designers and shops world wide.

Liz and Geoff have always appreciated the intrinsic craftsmanship of each other’s work and over time realised how well their work sits together. In 2015 they moved to Hastings having always yearned to live by the sea. They knew that their work complimented each other and decided that they would like to open a shop.

More than 20 years experience has gone into the making of Liz Emtage’s unique porcelain pieces. A passion for art and design that has developed over a lifetime. Liz has been interested in ceramics since she was 5 years old. She did a Foundation course in London at Middlesex University. She then went on to do a degree in Ceramics at Bath College of Higher Education. In 1996 she set up her first studio in central London at Cockpit Arts. Since then she has been making and selling her ceramic work as well as teaching and lecturing.

Geoff Osler has been interested in antique furniture since he was a child. He studied Furniture and Furniture Restoration at the London College of Furniture and went on to work for different restoration companies. In 1997 he set up his own workshop restoring furniture for private clients and London Antique dealers in Cockpit Arts in London.

Geoff and Liz met at Cockpit Arts.
